Is it possible to unlock an O2 iPhone?

Hi guys.
I know nothing of phones (i use mine to makes calls and txt, its all i need)
But my younger brother has just got hold of an iPhone, but its on the O2 network.
He currently has an Orange contract and wants to use his Orange sim. I know Orange are now doing iPhones, but is there any way to unlock the O2 one and use the Orange sim? Doesn't matter if it involves jailbreaking and such.

take it to the O2 store and I think its £15 to unlock it there and then

If you can wait you can unlock it for free. Get someone with an O2 contract to stick their sim in and make a few calls (so the phone is registered to that sim on the network) Get them to follow the O2 unlock link. Bingo within 14 days it will be unlocked (mine took 24hours)
