I know I know, this is a major noob question but ive been offered a alienware gaming pc for £300,it has an i5 4460 3.2ghz cpu and after looking online it seems this is much better than what I have now, thing is it has an old and not great gpu in it,if I bought it I would like to stick my gtx 970 in it and heres my question, the pc looks very slim by the photos (well compared to my coolermaster case I'm using now) and I'm not sure if a 970 will fit in it? or even if these pcs are made to be easily upgraded?

does anyone have experience with alienware pcs? and would it take my gtx 970 do you think? ive messaged seller but thought I would ask here as well

thanks

depending on the alienware in question, your best decision might be to make a hybrid machine from your parts and the alienware, IE, the CPU + MB (provided it fits on your case) from the alienware, along with the GPU, case and maybe PSU from your system, with other things like HDDs and RAM from either or 1 of the systems

thanks for replys,im not sure which one it is but might be worth buying and putting parts from each together I suppose :) at the moment it has a gtx 745 or something in it,

would I be able to upgrade the gpu in it do you know? or would it be best to make a rig out of my pc and that one?

thanks
If it's the X51 like others have said then It'd probably be easy to transfer it into a new case. You will be able to upgrade the GPU as it will be a ITX board so if you currently have atx it'd probably be worth it to get a new case.

thanks for reply,if I could I would rather just put my 970 straight into it lol as that's easiest option but for £300 I doubt I will come across anything cheaper for a while,i just wish my 970 would just slot straight in lol

I suppose even if I bought a new case it would make a cheap decent little gaming rig, well compared to what I have now lol

If you card is 9.5 inches it will fit in the X51 and be fine. The 970 is an option on the X51 now.Search youtube for X51 970 upgrade theres lots of owners who have done that.
Make sure it has the 330w power supply,it's an external supply like a laptop one hope this helps

thanks for your help, unfortunatly I think hes sold it as got a message just now saying someone is coming out to look at it later today, guess I will wait a while to see if anymore bargains come up or maybe wait to see what zen is like.

thanks again
