hello my fellow ocukers qiuck question is it possible to access another persons windows and use there windows from your own computer i'm on a network I saw it on a film and wanted to know how to go about doing it.

I heard on the radio today (smooth fm i think) while i was flicking stations about a new online program.

You can access your desktop PC at home from a PC/laptop anywhere in the world as though you where actually sitting in front of it which means that you dont need to copy all your important files over etc.

Same as Remote desktop im guessing.

but if you are controling someones computer from yours via windows own 'remote desktop connection' they wont be able to see what your are doing as they will be displayed the log on screen on their monitor, but your are able to see their desktop on your monitor.

could be fun though - they log on and start to work, you log onto theirs from your comp, which then in turn logs them off. keep doing it over and over and then they will go and get their techie. at this point dont do it and they will look like a prat. once the techie goes away, start doing it again

you can, cant you?

i used to work for a company called Greenvale and the IT dept would always be logging on to the PCs on the loading bay. It always freaked people out to see the mouse cursor moving about on the screen and opening files. I used to enjoy watching them solve a problem, good way for me to learn :D

Course you can, install realVNC on their machine, set it running in the background. All they see is a new icon in the systray (unless you run it in service mode?) connect to it from your machine and that's it, full control from where ever you are.

Can't you add "-silent" to the command line to hide it? I noticed that's what Steam does on my PC, or is that Steam specific?

command line parameters are program specific.

And yeah, RealVNC and the like are serious programs and if set up badly can pose a serious security risk to a network/computer. Good for pranks, but not good if the Company finds out.

how do u find out a computers name?

Ask you friend, or the I.T. department.

i put the comp name in the remote windows thnig and came up with "remote windows maynot be enabled how would i go about enabling it i do have administrative access.

why is this still in the PC games section?

If you want to know how to do it then i suggest you google it or use windows help files.

I doubt the mods would want us telling you how to hack into someones PC step by step, because that is effectively what you are doing :)
