Basically I have some software running on an old laptop of mine and would like to load the software onto my new laptop. The problem is I have lost the CD, is there anyway software can be copied over or transferred from the old hard drive to the new?
depends on the software (and licensing issues asside)..
try and copy the software folder to the new PC in the same folder and try and jsut run it... if it complains about missing DLL's copy them from the old system...
check the shortcut has nothing special in it...
if it still does not work try and copy the hklm\software\<software name> you can export it with regedit (careful you only copy the bit you want - you can check by opening the file in notepad)
It may have bits in hkcu\software
it really depends on the software so times it jsut runs other times you have to copy reg keys and dlls...
