is it safe to use a magnetic screw driver to build a computer

I usually stick a bit of blu tack on the end of the screw and screw it in normally.

Not because magnetic ones are bad, just because im too lazy/forgetful to buy one.

Its along the same lines as an earthing wrist strap, you should always use one but no one ever does outside of work and very few people ever suffer as a result.

You be fine using a magnetic screw driver, comes in quite handy on the odd occasion.

Static damage is a real risk to components, magnetic screw driver is not.

Yeah OP - Magnetic screw driver is almost a must - I hate dropping screws behind the mobo or the ones that get lodged in somewhere and you forget about it - only to strike back and short your build when you power on :mad:
