My temps were not good so I tried to resit the heatsink and was shocked to find out that my Ninja just has some sort of contact "around the edge" of Conroe E6600's IHS, a much larger central area of the IHS was untouched  The thermal paste was intact  Is it time for me to lap the heck out of it? Do I need to lap the Ninja as well?
QC of Intel is just awfully BADDDDDDDDD

first run a test to see what needs lapping the most. i used a credit card which has a straight edge, i put it over my northbridge on my old board and i noticed some light shining through when i fired a torch over it. thats when i lapped the northbridge since the heatsink was already flat.

I'd be aware lapping certain heatsinks as the protective nickel coating over the copper is electroplated and hence probably very thin. How fast the copper base will oxidise over time I am unsure of so once you remove the nickel plate you may have to lap it regularly to remove the copper oxidisation (green) as it builds up.

Any1 experience oxidisation problems on lapped heatsinks???
