to upgrade my GTX 285 Graphics card to a latest version?

In simple: I defected to Intel by purhasing a i5 2500K, replacing my old AMD Phenom II X4 955. And am wondering if my GTX 285 is bottlenecking my CPU.

You should probably be fine with it. My ENGT240 was running Skyrim etc at ultra settings (not sure what kind of FPS but was definately more than 30) xD

IMO it depends on the games you play/intend on playing. If you are struggling then yes, upgrade, also if you would like dx11 then also yes. Did you have a price in mind you are willing to spend on a new GPU or was you just enquiring?

I upgraded from a GTX260 216 to the GTX680, and at 1920x1200 the difference is worlds apart.

The GTX670 (depending on exact price) looks like a sweet option if you want to stick with nVidia, but the new 7xxx series from AMD (particularly the 7850/7870 for price/performance) is excellent as well.

Thanks for all those who replied :)

The only game that seems to struggle from time to time is Arma 2 OA and I know that Arma series is CPU intensive ( Hence the reason why I upgraded ). Haven't tried BF3 yet though as I haven't got it - Only on my PS3.

Also, I should mention that my PC is running through an 7 yrs old monitor which it's native resolution is 1280 by 1024.

Is the GTX670 yet to be released?

I have a budget of upto £200 for a new card, but want to choose for both price and performance

670s will be over £300, think Gibbo has already hinted at that :(

For both price and performance the main recommendation is the 7850 from AMD and clock it high :)

They seem to be ok so long as you dont xfire them. Both AMD and NVIDIA have had probs with drivers.

Cheers Gregster for your advice :)

You may support me with what I'm going to say... that selecting the right components, both price and performance is a minefield!!!

100% agree. So much to choose from!!! If you take a look at the how to overclock a 7850 thread, you will see some amazing posts and this card is just top notch for the price.

I am pretty sure it is standard practice now for all cards to have a HDMI socket. One thing I will say is a 50" TV is not as good as a 24" Monitor at 1080P as it has to stretch the pixels a little further however if you are sat a fair distance from the TV, this wont detract from the picture quality.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H785QN2G2M) £199.99
Total : £210.79 (includes shipping : £9.00).

The HIS are pretty tasty cards and this is sub £200 :)

Will look am damn sight better playing BF3 than on the PS3 if I'm correct:D
