Hi guys,

Happy new year!!

Quick question i currently use an old sandisk sdd as my main boot drive and santa got me a new sansung 850 evo ssd. Please see the read and write differences below. Is the performance increase worth the hassle to move my OS to the new SSD?

Sandisk - SEQ Read - 423 mb/s Write 102.81 mb/s
ACC Time - Read - 0.440 ms Write 0.597 ms

Sansung - SEQ Read - 511 mb/s Write 491 mb/s
ACC Time - Read - 0.034 ms Write 0.029 ms

Cheers

Andy

I doubt you would notice any difference in running of windows as the read speed is not much faster.

If you move a lot about or save a lot to the sandisk drive you would see a improvement as the write speeds are a lot better on the 850

I have a 850 evo and using sata 2 port as my sata 3 has a poor controller which gives me 280mb read and write and this is fine for me. when\if I get a new PC I doubt using sata 3 port and getting full speed will be that noticeable.

Yes it would make a noticeable difference especially in random access times. The Samsung 850 is in SDD terms a significantly faster drive.

More importantly, logically speaking, why would you not always run Windows form the fastest drive you have?
