Is it worth contesting this fine?

I see that Fightback Forums has shut down, so may as well ask here. For reference the fine is only £35 but if it looks like an easy win I'll contest it.

I got a ticket for parking here, which as I now now, is a disabled spot:

That's my bike parked there. There are no markings in the bays themselves, the road marking is old and a bit faded and seems to only cover the area the car is parked in. The sign itself is barely legible too as it's clearly had stickers or something stuck on it and then poorly removed.

Honestly I'm not that fussed, but for the sake of a 5 minute email I'm more than happy to save the £35.

Cheers :)

I had a very similar one but there was no sign on the floor.
I took pictures like yourself for backup and the following day the Council went out and redid the lines with writing on the floor - b******s*
Luckily my guitarist who worked up high in the Council witnessed it and got it revoked.
I don't think you'll win that one even though the sign is crap.

When I parked and then what it looked like the following day.
I've used Google Street because I can't find my original pictures.

Is this a private road? Why is there a private parking sign behind?

If it is a private road, then marks on the floor are not legally binding. It depends entirely on what the board behind you says as to the terms and conditions.

edit: I suspect not as you called it a fine and not a charge. I'd complain about the confusing private parking sign on a council run road though.

From the photo, to me it looks pretty obvious that entire white box is for disabled only.

Yeah I don’t think you’d be on to a winner there based of the photos.

Cheers, I'm just gonna pay it then, in fairness I was in a massive hurry and wasn't really paying all that much attention so it's 100% my own fault.

The road leads up to a private car park, as can be seen in this (very old) streetview:

It is worth checking the boundary of when it turns into a private road. It might even be that grating if you check how the road, and the pavement on the other side has been maintained. That road also doesn't have a name.

I could, but honestly it's not worth it. The amount of times I park naughtily on my bike and never get caught, I'll just consider this a parking fee for all the times I got away with it :p

(never disabled bays mind, that's where I draw the line!)

Up to you. It is also a principle thing. The council can't go round ticketing on private land.

Guildford? Seems rife for parking fines. I know a few that got done there. I don't think you will win that one sadly.

Zero hope I feel, they will simply point out that they painted disabled in the standard size on the road and that it is in sufficiently good condition etc....

If it took this little ninja longer than three minutes to pop out of the shadows, issue the fine and then vanish in to thin air again it was long. I got off my bike, walked in to Mcdonalds and ordered a few bits on their screens which couldn't have taken longer than a minute, and I turned around and looked at my bike and the fine was there. I looked in every direction and down every alley from where I was standing and couldn't see this mystical ninja. In hindsight it is actually seriously impressive how quickly he/she did it, I wish I could find staff who work that quickly :D

All that for a maccies @Diddums - they are proper hot on that spot due to all the delivery drivers sadly.

Yep :(

I was in a rush as I had an interview and didn't have time for a proper lunch. Best part is I walked out and there were a few delivery riders parked on the double yellows, not one of them had a ticket!

Yeah I drop off near Black Sheep Coffee as my lad working The Friary, thy literally give zero leeway.

It’s worse now they closed off the carpark near the bus station.
