Is it worth contesting this fine?

It’s worse now they closed off the carpark near the bus station.

Hence the bike, I'd rather freeze to death down the A3 for 5 minutes than get stuck in that traffic, last time we picked up a Nandos on the way home and it added an hour to our journey!

(I must be honest, the petty whining that happens in all the Facebook groups is spectactular, a lot of time-rich people in Surrey :D)

If it took this little ninja longer than three minutes to pop out of the shadows, issue the fine and then vanish in to thin air again it was long

A few years ago I was taken ill at the wheel so I pulled over in a place called Longton on a Sunday afternoon, it was deserted,
I first put my head on the wheel for a while and then opened the car door where I started to puke in the gutter.
I turned round and the Warden was walking off and there was a ticket on my screen.
I tried to have him about it "Can't you see I was ill" etc.
Anyway I eventually took it to the Ombudsman who got hold of CCTV evidence and witnessed me being ill and him giving me a ticket and I got off.
I was informed that the Warden would have a stern warning.

Boxing Day last year Stoke were at home.
I looked out of my window and a Warden was writing out a ticket for my neighbour opposite who had parked on the road.
I hobbled out shouting at him that he lives there and when he turned I realised it was the same Warden.
He realised I was the puker and I said haven't you learnt a lesson since your last warning :)
Neighbour opposite had got a pass on his car and I was a bit premature :)

Who has actually issued the fine or charge? I don't have much sympathy as the markings aren't that far gone [yet] but there does seem to be an interesting mix up there regarding private and council involvement.

I feel your pain. I was waiting for a spot in an unfamiliar car park once when a car behind me pulled out. I reversed into the space. It was the same size as the other spaces and didn’t have any noticeable differences. I came back to a ticket and was confused as I had paid. Turns out it was a disabled spot with a small sign at bumper height which I didn’t see as I reversed in.

I felt aggrieved for a while but eventually accepted that I deprived someone of a disabled spot, albeit unintentionally, and should pay the fine and chalk it up to experience. I recommend you do the same.

It doesn't, it's pretty clear that it's a disabled / restricted bay.

Except it looks very much like the council have drawn the bay into a private road according to the check I've done.

I think there is a good chance that entire bay is invalid. There is a mix up in the boundaries. I don't think that part of the road is part of North Street, but instead the private road.

Don't think they've clarified as to who has actually issued the fine or charge - the council ostensibly can't enforce disabled badger holder rules on private land, which comes down to civil stuff, but I believe there are some situations where the lines are a bit blurred.

EDIT: Also not sure on the land ownership around there - looks like the council is the landlord on a big chunk so that may change things.
