is it worth getting a 360? spec some games

Sounds like you want a Wii, not a 360.

Can't believe no one has ripped mammalian alive for this one. :D

no we have a wii in my current house and it's a hardly used, then after ages a good game comes out e.g. mariokart, then it's used for a while until that game gets boring, and then not used for months until another.

thanks all you've convinced me to definitely get one, though i'm looking at second hand for now as it's not worth £190.

Keep an eye on the Member's Market, I've seen a few good bundles on there lately for around £160 with loads of stuff. Even if you don't want half of it, just trade it in/sell it. That's what I did, recouped two-thirds of the cost back just like that.

COD World at War - Nazi zombies! Campaign is local but for some reason you have to complete the levels in single player first as it doesn't save you progress.
Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - campaign and terrorist are good.
Gears of War 1 & 2 are epic locally.

Wouldn’t bother with Fable II though, it is completely gimped in co-op, player 2 can hardly interact at all it’s really tacked on.

Ops missread the topic thought he played online.
Yeah Crackdown 1 onsly has system link and live crackdown 2 only live.
Worth a look into the arcade section as well if you are into platformers and arcade games most of them has local coop.

If you only want it to play games with the Mrs. I think the Wii would be better than an Xbox360

can anyone list some games i should look at that'll be good for boy/girl co-op, and boy/boy co-op, and then finally any good games for single player?

:)

does the arcade have the ability to be as good as elite? i don't understand what's missing other then hard drive. can any hard drive then be used on the arcade? how does the arcade save games?

You have to use a 360 hard drive (not any hard drive) but you can save onto a memory card (or USB stick with the latest firmware update)

I believe the newer arcades also come with some internal memory now (although how much I have no idea)

320MB I think.

You can get 20gb hard disks pretty cheap on ebay, and a 60gb for not much more. I'm using a 60gb one and I've got several games installed and some XBLA stuff.

The most sensible answer is no, dont get one till after E3 next week. MS looks like they are trying the whole relaunch thing with the 360 with a possible re-design. If you can wait a while this would be the best option, it will probably send the prices of the old Arcade SKU down.

Couldn't agree more.

You're much better off spending your money on travelling. Get out into the world instead of wasting money on video games.

And while you're saving up, if you really need to play video games then invest in an second hand older console.

Otherwise one day you'll be on your deathbed and be like "Ok, so I never got out of England much, but hey, at least I got to level 7 of (insert game title here).
