Is it worth getting a northbridge fan?

Hello all. Thought my rig was gonna be quiet (purchased a Zalman 9700, Seagate Barracuda HDD etc

How the Fan on my 680i (evga) is driving me crazy. Do I need it on?
Ideally yes! Especially if you've overclocked!

From what i've heard though you can control its speed. Have a little search on the forum or on google. I'm sure you'll find something about it!

I should have my EVGA 680i next week so i'll have a look but i'm sure you'll have found out by then! ;)

Even running at stock it was really toasty so I just strapped a 40mm x 20mm Akasa low noise fan onto the NB of my DS3P

Yup, I did exactly that too, did seem to help- just fixed it on with some twists of lockwire (you could use bag ties if that's all you've got, or fuse wire) Didn't stop it from catching on fire when my Corsair PSU went wrong, but then that would asking a bit too much :D
