hi,

up grading pc, but stuck with gfx card

i have 6800gt, looking at getting x1800 or x1900 but i dont know if the x1900 is worth it? x1800 doesnt seem to be too far behind the x1900

does the x1800 overclock well? and is the stock cooler any good? or is it recommended to change to something like arctic cooling?

thanks
nickels

x1800 isn't that far behind the x1900, but if your upgrading from the 6800 GT, then id just go straight to the x1900 as they are cracking prices, suppose it depends on what resolutions you game at really, the higher the resolutions, the more you'll benefit. :)

I would go for the 7900 GT/GTX

The 7900 GT is a fantastic clocker and with a simple mod reach 700/1800.

Looko at the 7900 overclocking thread for details to see just how good they are.

x1800/x1900 are also fantastic clockers, you could change the cooler if you wanted, but i don't think they are loud at all, could'nt hear my x1800 under full-load, but eveyones hearing is different. :)

got myself a X1800xt 256mb and have clocked it to 685/880 at stock volts....

i know this will go further but have not had a chance to push it to its limits yet....

the fan isnt loud IMO but everyone is different....

far cry maxed out....quality....what more can i say....

cheers :D

I would suggest that the card listed below is the card to get. Close enough to X1900XT speeds.
Also its definitely worthwhile upgrading to a card with 512MB, as more & more this will be utilised in upcoming games.

PowerColor ATI Radeon X1800 XT 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-048-PC) £246.69 Including VAT

i ordered x1800 256mb by mistake

is it work sending it back and getting the 512mb version?

damn overclockers fast processing :p
