hi all ive got

2500K @ 4.4GHZ / GA-Z68AP-D3 / 8GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE / Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB

ive got the itch

im thinking of getting rid of 6950 and plonking in a 7950 i dont want to cross fire i only want a single card

do you think it will make much odds in performance or would it be better getting a better mobo to say run pci 3.0 at a later date.

i play bf3

thanks all

Getting a 7950 would be a good upgrade. Remember, it's a whole new architecture. Not just a refresh. It consumes less power and performs way better, especially when OC'd.

Upgrading your mobo just for PCIE3 doesn't make much sense given that performance gains are minimal at this point.

Don't concern yourself with pcie3 for the moment. The 7950 would be a good upgrade. As said, to get the most out of it, overclock it.

7950 from a 6950 would net you a damn good improvement in BF3. Slap on 12.11 drivers and clock it up some more and you'll be on for a winner.
