Is it worth it...

The irritating thing about water cooling is maintenance and upgrades you can't just do something it has to be planned for.

When l serviced my custom loop after 2 years[new coolent+tubing] was using EC6 Clear. The coolant was still clear and no aliens floating around no change in temps. I checked my CPU Block, no build up just a bit stained as l changed GPU in that time. I topped the loop up a couple of times during the 2 year period and when l changed the GPU.

Building my loop l mounted the rad externally making it easier to install + maintain. Now using EK Clear about year old, still looks clear no aliens, no reason it should not last 2 years again with the tubing..

The only thing that would put me off watercooling my 3570k, is that due to the shoddy job that intel done with the thermal paste instead of solder on theese chips, the gains of watercooling over air arent near as signifigant as earlier cpu's. To get any decent temp drops with theese on air or water means delidding the cpu and replacing the stock paste. But with that, your warranty go's straight out the window.

Well, I've just taken the first step and provisionally bought a 7970 block :):(

Personally, my CPU and especially GPU temps are fantastic, but I'm doing it because I need a fun new project, not lower temps :) (Check sig link for details).

Expect a project log and some silly noob questions in the very near future.
