..and thats the problem, prices will stay high on the 9900K for years because there are plenty of people like you who will want to upgrade to the best CPU that the Z390 platform will take.
I faced the same situation a couple of years ago with thinking about upgrading my 4690K to the 4790K, but the prices were crazy for a 4yr old CPU, so stuck it out for another year and built my current rig.
