After a little info.
My rig is used mainly for gaming on a 22" monitor at 1680x1050.
My rig consists of these main componants:
E6300 @3.0Ghz
4Gb XMSII
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
Gigabyte 8800GT
Im thinking about selling the E6300 and replacing it with a E5X00 chip in hopes of hitting 4Ghz, i dont buy into quads just yet, i know they will be needed eventually but i just dont see it yet so a fast dual core is my thinking. im not seeing my GT struggle so is it worth replacing the CPU or ill it be so little increase that i may aswell just wait?

) i have barely pushed it and i dont think i want to! and the difference between 4 and 3, i went from 3.1 to 4.3 similar to the change youll get and i do notice it! takes about 2 mins to install most games and loading screens go by in seconds! unless you get an i7 then youre right, dont do quad but if youve got a lot to spare then it is worth it (from what ive heard) would strongly suggest e8500 but of course it's your choice, if your planning a new rig soon then forget it and save up for an i7
