Bigger box!
I have what was a very mid range PC about a year ago...

and in it is an ATI HD 4670 (512mb).

I'm thinking of getting something like a HD 5770 (1024mb), but is it worth it considdering the rest of my specs?? Obviously no point in a half decent graphics card in an otherwise sub standard machine....

Cheers for your time :)

EDIT: reason for asking, is that Arkham Asylum is quite stuttery at times running at 1440 x 900 so something needs improving, I'm just hoping it's not everything that needs improving!!!

A 5770 should give a decent boost but may be held back a bit by your cpu. Any chance of clocking it a bit? Is that a 939 or AM2 rig?

To be honest that cpu would be a waste of money as it's only 300mhz faster than the one you have. You should be able to overclock your 4400 by at least that much. Can't your board take any of the newer cpu's?

Anything multi-format is going to benefit massively from a tri/quad core, due to the specs of both the consoles.

For 1440x900, the 5770 would be a little overkill (read: futureproof) but the stuttering you mention is more than likely the dual core holding you back.

Understood :)

Pretty sure the mobo is about as sucky as it gets. The whole thing was built as a budget system. Last time was everything though. Screen, PSU, 80 quid case, the lot. I reckon it's new guts time in the new year.

Think I'll give it a bit longer and get a new system.... Don't tell the Mrs!!!!!
