Is Kuala Lumpur as dull as it looks?

If you don't like HK for the reasons you said then you won't like Singapore. Singapore is like HK without the edginess. Singapore didn't go through the same evolution during the start of the 20th century the same way as HK did. Singapore for example did away the street food scene (Dai Pai Dong) and pushed them all into Hawker Centres. Cleaning up the street and also preserving them. Hong Kong didn't did that so much as they just limited the licence of them and letting them die slowly.

The way they handled housing too means more home owners in Singapore in better accommodation.

Singapore is a cleaner, less edgy version of Hong Kong. Singapore is like Hong Kong island all over, without the Kowloon (grungy) and NT (nature) part.
from that I don;t think SG is for us though we are really only going due to it being a good route to get to Krabi and flight availability on the new BA club suites

I see Singapore as a place for a stopover to another place in Asia/Australia. 24 to 48hrs to get some cheap food, adjust body clock a bit. That is if you have the spare holiday to do a stopover.

It's clean, it is safe, it is definitely not edgy. It is a a very modern city, even the green areas feels planned and designed.

yep we have less than 48hrs, just seemed a shame not to make a little stop as we are connecting there

Singapore is about as un-edgy as can get mate, you'll hate it.
Singapore makes Vienna look off the rails crazy and Vienna has to be one of the most pedestrian capital cities in Europe.
I'm beginning to think that way, only there 2 nights so we can probably find something to do before we leave

We are only there as we needed to fly BA and they weren't doing BKK when I booked so it was there or HKG
