...bad for you? I drink at least one Lucozade Energy drink a day (Sometimes I've missed one out) and have done for the last few years.

Not good for you?

Thanks.

Just drink more water and less of the lucozade stuff. :)
Ya rly. Keeps you going 100% longer than water. So just drink twice as much water for a fraction of the price tbh.

But it's so nice!

Your body and brain is fooling you to think is sooooo nice perhaps because you are hooked on it? You mentioned you have being doing it for a while now so i would expect you body to become dependant on it and give you the false "feeling" of been nice you try to drink something else. (water) :p

I had a can the other day - it's sickly!! It's just sugary syrup, might as well just chew down a dozen sugar cubes.

It isn't particularly nutritious, it's full of sugars, so therefore not very good for you, but one a day will not do you any harm providing you have a balanced diet.

Carbs in Lucazade

I love lucazade, the apple ones are lovely :p Try to avoid them in general, but the odd one wont hurt :) Try and stay active and you should burn off the carbs lucazades give you :) As mentioned above they are simply high in simple sugars, meaning they can be broken down by your body quickly giving you a quick energy buzz, ideal for running and sprinting. If you're not exercising enough to use these carbs they'll be stored as fat :). It's also not good to have a lot as your blood sugar levels will be up and down constantly :D

Haven't had Lucozade in ages. Can you still get in the bottles with the yellow plastic wrapped around it?

They got rid of that well over 10 years ago! I do miss the old bottles though, with the little bumps. Lucozade tastes much better from a glass bottle.

If its got caffeine in it you wont be getting a good sleep as it blocks receptors in your brain that are needed for deep sleep.

not quite, its an adenosine antagonist (slows it down/stops it) it does this by binding to the adenosine receptors in the brain but not activating them, the low levels of adenosine result in increased activity of mainly dopamine and party serotonin

i think

caffeine withdrawal is caused by large amounts of adenosine

you build up a tolerance to the insomnia it causes anyway, if you drank 3 bottles a day for a month you'd eventually be able to sleep normally. not that im recommending it :p
