is mcafee security centre anygood?

I would say that you are doing a good thing by getting rid of McAfee and replacing it with MSE. MSE/Avast would be my free security programs. NOD32 paid for. :)

Do you have a hardware firewall/router?

on my current pc i have. MSE / MBAM & spybot.
but on the new laptop i would get 15months free of mcafee security centre. this is why i need to know if its any good?
 
Well, I recently had to remove a trojan which wasn't picked up by mcafee security center and it wasn't the most simple one either.. I'd say try a different AV.

indeed. i was using someone's computer recently where the norton subscription had run out and the reminder popups were unbelievable. i was using office and the ****ing things kept getting in my way. i couldn't disable/turn anything off because i was on a standard account. :mad:
 
I hate McAfee with a passion, full of bugs and has allowed 3 nasty rootkits to gain access to a friends computer which I have to sort out everytime.

My friend doesn't wnat to use anything else because he 'paid' for this software.

Please stay away


I like Security essentials and Malwarebytes
