Is my 4770k to blame ?

Well it turned out that the cpu was indeed the culprit to all my woes and has now been replaced and is currently undergoing testing at ocuk with the graphics card, ram, backplate, new cabling, new psu and triple block fitted. I'll be getting it back on Saturday and I can't wait, it's been horrid using this macbook as it's useless for gaming.

Glad to hear you finally identified the issue. Strange though, as never heard of a CPU ever really being faulty before, but hey hope this sorts the issue.

You have also learned a great lesson. Why we as consumers buy new. Great service and warranty. OCUK shine as usual. When you pay good money for something its nice to have peace of mind if the worst happens it will be sorted.

Happy gaming when you get it back.

^ Exactly what he said :) Tbh I've never had a faulty CPU either, GPUs, yes - motherboard, yes - hard drive? yes haha

Never a CPU though, at least you will have a perfectly working system now!

Thanks guys.

I have to say the service has been first class from ocuk and this alone earns them my loyalty. Not only did they sort the issue out but they went out of their way to get me those upgrades for installing at the same time as the repair.
DPD, who were meant to pick my rig up on Monday, claimed that they called but nobody was home. Which was utter bull because we were sat in the front garden waiting and nobody showed. This delayed the RMA but Rob promised me that he'd get straight on with it when it arrived and he has done that.

Luckily the failing of prime95 was replicated at ocuk so they could see what the issue was. Hopefully this means I'll have a far more reliable pc now and some games that refused to play previously may actually work.

I'm not sure what overclock they got on the pc with the extra ram, I forgot to ask, but I'll update here when I get it back Saturday. I'll also get some pics sorted. I have one picture from when I first got the system but I've changed it a bit now.

Thanks McstylisT :)

I got my pc back about an hour ago and I'm getting massive improvements in games and benchmarks. My Firestrike score went up from 14k to 21k stock cards, so these added items have made me very happy indeed.

Great to hear buddy. :D Put all that bad times behind you and enjoy your gaming.

Would love to see some benchmark scores in the other threads too, build looks like its gonna pack a punch.

Thanks a lot guys, ocuk did a great job with the system. I'm now going back through a few of the games I've completed, just to enjoy that extra benefit of the card.

Those games that had a few dips under 60fps now run nice and steady which is exactly what I was looking for and that's with supersampling turned on whenever it's available. I'm thinking I could have got that 4k tv now. Oh well, maybe next year, I don't think I could convince the wife that we need another new tele just yet.

I wasn't aware that the Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Tri-X would be running at 1040MHz as it states 1000MHz on ocuk here.

Never buy a pre built from OCUK... from what ive heard they don't even do proper stress testing on the overclocks.

And remove the fluid before transport.. I'm sure OCUK will put some in the loop...or put your fluid in the bottle and send it with the case?

well i bought a £2500 rig 4 years ago and couldnt be happier ,the work was outsatnding, and was giving loads of advice thx ocuk
