Is my C.V really that bad?

How long ago was the B&Q interview now? Ask for some constructive feedback.

Wear trousers, shirt, tie and smart shoes. A jumper, cardigan or blazer are optional - go smart.

Do you not have any ideas on where you felt you did well and where you may have been weak? Some potential answers to questions, for example.

I may have been weak on some of the questions as I remember them asking why I want to work for them. I couldn't think what to say other than I was interested in the stuff they sell and thought the place was well organised. Oops.

They also asked silly questions about how do I treat people?? I just said with respect and being polite.

I really hate interviews.:p

Just from past experience for what ever job i apply for and have an interview i always if they have one go on their website and see if i can find any details about them as a business sustainability (i.e. Is being environmentally friendly a big concern of theirs?) and also look to see what they look for in their employees etc ( Flexibility, leadership, willingness to learn etc).

Then from this you usually have a reasonable idea what sort of question they shall ask so i come up with answers where i can use examples that i have done to tailor to the above (bending the truth is not lying they are not going to research what you have said 100% truthful) this doesn't mean go making up random things as all you find is that you will probably waffle or when you enter the job they will be able to see you don't offer those qualities.

For you not being able the answer 'why do you want to work for us?' show lack of preparation. All the jobs i have been interviewed for have always asked this question so before you go you should have a structure in your head that you know what your going to say when they ask this. I say structure as you don't want to have a memorised answer as it will look to scripted and like your lying.

For a next interview being that there in fashion i would definitely dress smart. Personally would go for a suit trousers with shirt possibly a jacket but no tie shows smart but casual a the same time.

They basically ask for:
Maintaining high standards of merchandising and housekeeping at all times
Adhering to all Company policies and procedures
Quality assurance
Health and Safety awareness.
Supporting and helping colleagues with their work
Showing a genuine interest in other people and willingness to help.
Using initiative at all times.
Actively supporting and communicating with colleagues, customers and managers.
Displaying good listening skills.

Doesn't sound that difficult to me so what you're saying is they will ask questions related to this? Should I just give examples when they ask?

No saying they will ask you question based on that like " Give us an example where you have peformed hosue keeping?"

But for example it says using initiative at all times or displaying good listening skills

So so they ask " Give us an example where you have found something challenging?"
You could in your answer try a show that you have be initiative. Or you have been told by someone else how to do something more efficently so you took on board and listended to this feedback and did it this way to solve the challenge.

Do go out there and answer the questions like " I used my initiative i did this..." but use your example to support the qualities that they are looking for within an employer.

Leadership- Presuming your rather young your not going to have examples of when you have been a leader of a team in a work place but your not applying for a high role so they wont expect this. Leadership example could be Football captain etc losing against a team and you knew your squad was better so at half time you picked them up and managed to pull the game back etc

Its all about demonstrating that you are the right person for the job
