IS MY DRIVE BEGINNING TO DIE??

hi all,

last night i was copying over some stuff on my machine from one disk to the other.
I got a warning saying the drive was inaccesible or corrupted. Eventually everything all crashed and I had to restart.

On reboot the Check disk ran on my F: and ran through all the stuff it does. Windows loaded up fine.

I went to my computer and checked my disk and found that there was 32Gb free on F: now. Before the reboot there was only 3Gb free! Some of my video avi files are now appearing with file sizes of 0 bytes and an error comes up saying it cant find the file specified.

My question is how can data just disappear like this?
Is my disk dying?
Is there any way to retrieve my data?

BTW my disk is a MAxtor so its very possible that its bust. Ordering a new seagate soon.

Any info would be appreciated.

tried max blast but it didnt do much for me..

I checked up the disk management options inside my computer and it indicated that both drives were healthy.

Hopefully if i run a data recovery utility i can get my stuff back. Any recommendations?
