This "friend" of mine posted this on FB. He usually posts this sort of thing. He thinks that everything is a lie, 911 was an inside job, etc etc. I replied to his comment and it went from there.
How many other people on here believe what he's saying?

    • Luke It was better than the alternative of sitting back and doing nothing. I don't think theres a veteran alive today who would regret fighting in WWII. That was a real war where people fought for their freedom.3 hours ago · Like

    • James - Doomed is a better word. I have listened to ww2 veterans voice their disgust as to how they were not permitted to bomb sites that were run by American corporations even though doing do would have crippled germanys arsenal. It's all so dirty...See more

I really don't care about your mate and your conversation, but in response to the huffingtonpost article, it wouldn't surprise me if the stats were true. But you have to wonder why they're doing it? If you take WW2 as another brutal bloody conflict, what were the suicide rates of returning vets from that, compared to Vietnam and the current middle eastern conflicts? The difference is, there aren't many vets who would question or regret whether going to war in the 40s was right or wrong (it would be interesting to see german figures and numbers for suicide rates of returning soldiers)... but how many returning vets from vietnam and the middle eastern conflicts question(ed) not only the reasons for going but the actions they committed while out there? Maybe that is something that weighs heavily on those returning, and why so many joined anti-war movements upon returning in the 60s and from the current conflicts.

I agree with you there, which was sort of the point I was trying to make to him, albeit not as well put as yourself.

However I tend to provoke him, which isn't very mature of me but I like to see what sort of arguments he comes up with.

haha. Classic, so Nazi Germany was in bed with American Corporations and the European Union was their love child......

How do these people actually function?

He doesn't work. I don't know how he lives but he constantly tells people on FB to quit work in order to not pay tax to the government, who are our oppressors.

Fixed for you.

How clever of you.

Well they weren't in bed with them. But they were profiteering from the Nazis for as long as they could get away with it.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar

But the new documents, many of which were only declassified last year, show that even after America had entered the war and when there was already significant information about the Nazis' plans and policies, he worked for and profited from companies closely involved with the very German businesses that financed Hitler's rise to power. It has also been suggested that the money he made from these dealings helped to establish the Bush family fortune and set up its political dynasty.

I suspect he spends an inordinate amount of time doing skunk and reading conspiracy websites while sitting in his tinfoil shelter.

Never realising that by using FB he is enabling the very same insidious American Corporations that he is so afraid of....:D

How clever of you.

I was feeling mischievous, sorry :(

Your friend can believe in what he likes. People believe in far more unlikely things, like God for example, and we don't harangue them, do we? There may well be a grain of truth in some of the things he's said - as long as he's happy, leave him to it.
