Is my GPU going?

In Mint 11, at rare times, a purple tint starts flashing & Windows 7 in UT2004 at rare times, it starts where like green static & the colors are messed up. It looks cool actually, but when I take a screenshot it is normal in the shot.

ah the old 8800gts... i had one that lasted me years... they are old faithful friends like an old dog with its old owner, but then eventually, they have to cease existing.

right questions!

is your gpu overclocked??? if so, go back to stock settings and try again... could be the problem, the 8800 series wasn't particular great at overclocking

the card sounds to be on its way out to be honest!

i would opt for a new card that is more powerful.. you can pick up a 6850 for £85 now... that is ridiculously LOW!

or if you cannot afford anything like that, try and get a second hand 5770 or similar from the MM... i have had my 5770 for a year now and its a great card! you can get one for around 40/50 now second hand...

Nope, not overclocking. I am a Nvidia man, so which one of them would be good. Wish I could screenshot my game, so you could see. The shot doesn't get it, it is just normal when I look at it. Any GPU apps. to test it out?

use unigine heaven to bench your GPU and use msi afterburner to watch the fan speed and temps...

run unigine and watch out for artefacts... run it on full resolution etc and see what happens..

All looked fine, what can I read the .hsl log file with, wordpad opens it, but the formatting is messed up. It did reach 79 c. when I did a OpenGL 3 est in the kombuster app.
