Been having a "little" problem with my graphics card of late. It's a 6800gt, with an artic cooler fitted. I purchased it second hand about 2-3 months ago. The card has been modestly clocked - I used the coolbits mod, and the “detect optimal frequency” option.
The card has been working fine until about a week ago, around the same time I upgraded to dual TFT screens (not sure if this is related). The problem started with some horizontal green artefacts that appeared on start-up, and persisted until Windows. I ignored this problem – it usually corrected itself on start-up.
Yesterday it got a little worse though, the artefacts got a lot worse, didn’t disappear on a re-start. It got to a point where the machine usually didn’t get into Windows, and when it did, it looked pretty screwed. I have included some pictures of the problem below - all show various stages of startup.
I have tried removing the artic cooler, cleaning and re-applying thermal paste, but this didn’t make any difference. Any advice on how I could go about solving the problem - or is my card well and truly dead?
