For a few weeks I'd been complaining (well moaning to myself really) that the PC seemed to go through phases where it would crawl to a halt. Anytime the HD was in continued use (Installing a program, patching a game etc) the system would simply fall on it's knee's.

I installed COD 4 yesterday which took 70 minutes (although it plays perfectly) and earlier tonight the game kept minimizing to windows and HD warning messages would appear.

In short taking into account the following screenshots is my HD dead or is there a simple fix?

Looks like death is imminent. Id backup your files just incase it does die on you. Have you tried any hdd monitoring programs? Unsure if hitachi provide a diagnostic tool, maybe some one can confirm? If its still under warranty, id get it RMA'd.

That's the third screenshot mate.

I knew it looked bleak and I guess I was naively hoping someone would provide a miracle cure :(
