Recently my hard drive went, it was fine and then when i try to access the drive it says "Not accesible - The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

It is detected in my computer and bios fine, but it also says there is 0 bytes of capacity and the same for used and free space aswell? Any ideas?

Try a fixboot or fixmbr in xp recovery console http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314058

If no joy delete the partition/s then create a new partition/s and format it , then run a disk check for bad sectors . Probably it is just corruption of data and not the actual hard disk itself .
My thought was that the drive is FUBAR as the indicated capacity in the BIOS is zero when the BIOS should at least see what the capacity is no matter what is on the drive, corrupted or not?
