Hey all,

Recently just got a new system which has been running fine until today. Had the pc on for a few days and rebooted it. However it took a good ten mins to get into Windows and then none of my programs will work, with Firefox giving me a side by side config error. Safe mode is the same story. Managed to salvage some important files thankfully.

Running a Check disk now but it's taking ages, though already found 4 unreadable files. Is the disk dead already?

Everything seems to be working again after the checkdisk can boot up like normal, however now almost all of my files arnt working, giving an error "application failed to start because side-by-side-configuration is incorrect". Any way to fix this? or will i just have to format and start from scratch? Also is it worth it to RMA the hard drive?

What version of Windows are you running?
Have you tried a system restore or windows repair?
What if any software or updates were installed prior to this happening?
Any relevant info in Event Viewer?

Running windows 7, tried the system restore and repair and that didnt fix it. I dont think any software updates were installed, i literally rebooted it and it was extremely slow, checkdisk fixed the speed issue but now almost every file i try and open is giving me that side by side error.
