It's a WDC 250GB SATA2 16MB
About 8 months old, was using it as my main hdd. One day i tried to boot it up and it kept freezing on bootup for no reason. I just couldnt get it to work!! so i reinstalled on my other drive. XP installed fine on the other drive, but when i was trying to copy stuff over off the drive that was previously the system drive, it would keep pausing or saying it was having errors.
I rebooted after installing all my hardware and chkdsk spent over an hour fixing damaged files. so i thought ok, thats it fixed now. Tried installing a game on it, and it took about 20 mins to install a 2gb game off a dvd!! once i restarted after installing the game chkdsk spent another eternity going through errors and fixing things.
HD Tach says its got an average read performance of 55mb/sec dunno if that's any good or not.
Anyway does anyone think the drive is going faulty?? I was going to try deleting the partition and making a new one see if that helps.. failing that do i send it back to OCUK or Western Digital?

no faults found with the WD program. I just moved 50gb off this drive to one of my others. It took nearly 4hours to move 50gb!!! the computer wasn't doing anything else and it was going to an old 160gb eide drive, which i know is slower but not that slow!!
I can't understand how it can be so slow yet in hd tach it's only 2mb/sec slower than my other 250gb drive.
