I bought a Techwood 32722HD 32" lcd last week and Ive noticed that when I play dvd's the screen has lines across it (see image).
I was told I need a monster scart cable to get rid of the lines but these are 70 odd quid!! Is this what I need or is my tv knackered??? I only get these lines/interference when playing dvd's.

Ive just seen a scart cable in Sainsburys for £7 which claim to get rid of interference etc. Would this do if it was interference????

Also if I continue watching dvd's would I damage my tv more if I watch films when its like this???

Cheers ;)

I'd say that has nothing to do with your cable - does this just happen on DVDs? What happens if you plug the DVD player into a different input?

Try the DVD player on a different TV, if its fine, Reject the new TV, its not fit for purpose, your entiltled to a refund/ replacement.

DO NOT buy a £70 SCART lead, by all means try a replacement SCART lead of the £2.99 variety.

Ive borrowed a dvd player, connected it up to the tv via the red, white & yellow inputs and it plays fine. Also tried it via component input and its good.

So either my dvd player or scart lead is borked. I might invest in this £20 player from Tesco's which plays xvids as well :)

Thanks for the help chaps, Im glad its not the tv that dont work well.

Theres' some sort of 'Pin Mod' (I think either Pin 14 or 19 on the TV end of the scart lead) that stops this happening!!...

I had it years ago on my old 32" Panny CRT where thare was some sort of ghosting when watching DVD's (most notably NTSC R1 stuff) and someone pointed me toward a site that showed how to do it!...

I had a cheap (£5quid) scart which enabled me to experiment.. I opened the TV end plug (non-molded head) and removed the pin (I think it was 14 but I'm not sure).. cleared up the ghosting no probs!!..

acording to the site the pin is the TV Return (S-vhs I think) thats causing it and as a DVD is a playback machine the pins not needed...

Sorry I'm being a bit vague but I'm at work and not near my DVD player!!.
