Is my Setup ok? Tempwise?

Hi

Can someone please tell me if my rig is overheating. I am using a GA-X58A-UD3R and i think TMPIN2 refers to the big metal heatsink block that sits in the middle of the mobo with theGigabyte logo on it. It a whooping 70+ C, should i be worried?

Also using Corsair H50, in same pic is the 2 fans for the H50 getting the correct power to run efficiently?

Cheers

The idle temps are fine, you will need to put it underload with prime95 for us to judge properly.

Not sure what that 73c reading is off, my Hwmonitor shows system/mobo first, cpu second, then Aux third.

If it is the northbride/mobo readin, put your hand on the heatsink and see if it really feels like 73c.

That is very high if it is even for X58, mine never goes over 45c.

The temps you have shown are fine. your sig says 4GHz so 70 degrees in this weather with that heat sink are rather impressive!

Windows has speedstep enabled so it not constant 4ghz all the time and only doing default speed of 2.2 at the time of the screenshot. My real concern is that the main metal heatsink block on the mobo is really hot to the touch  Is this normal and will it do any damage to the hardware?

With the H50 you aren't getting the benefit of the CPU fan blowing air over the NB heatsink, this could be why it gets hot. Maybe you need to guide some airflow over this area.

Sorry a nooib here :) Tj-Max ?

EDIT - lol never noticed that was even in coretemp? I don't really know what that refers tbh :o

TJ Max is the temperature at which the chip will start throttling due to heat, yours is set to 96c rather than 100c

Coretemp, realtemp and most other programs calculate the distance to TJ-Max to work out the core temps themselves

As yours is set to 96c your temps are actually 4c out, can set that in the program itself

For anyone who is interested. I managed to fit one of them Antec SpotCools and temps are way better on the Northbridge HS. Temps dropped from 70c --> to 40c  Highly Recommended.

PaulyD - still could not see where i could correct the TJ MAX other than add offset values
