I have a Crucial M4 256gb SSD. Never had any problems with it until today and bought it few years ago.

This morning i got disk boot failure after critical process died bsod.

Took the drive out and connected it to another desktop via sata usb adapter. The adapter works, but the drive wasnt detected.

In my computer even in bios it doesnt show.

Anyway i left my desktop on for about 20 mins in the bios whilst trying to revive my drive in the other computer.

After being unsuccessful i then powered off my computer, plugged the ssd back in, turned it on and then it came back on fine into windows.... did a backup and sys image. Ran crystaldisk... no problems indicated. Then ran a firmware upgrade. All ok. A while later i turned my computer off, came back a few hours later and its now as though the drive has disappeared again.

So... do you think the drive has had it? Ive googled ( not extensively ) but it appears a known problem with crucial ssds... so a) is it kaput and b) should this put me off buying crucial ssd drives as i may need a new SSD.
