I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but want to run it past you guys before i raise an RMA.

It is an OCZ Vertex 2, purchased from OCUK just over one year ago when they got a lot of cheap stock in.

I ran it for the year as a drive that held games.
I recently got a new mobo and cpu so wanted to use it as my main drive.

I could not get the OS installed onto it with major hassle, and multiple reboots.
Sometimes during the POST it would not be detected, which would then cause the BIOS to reset the boot order!!
When the drive is enabled, during the POST 20-25% of the time it will take 20secs to scan the available SATA drives, when it is not plugged in and the remaining 80% of the time it takes 1-2secs!

When i installed windows on another drive it is sometimes listed as a drive and after a reboot might not be there!!
From within windows i can browse the contents of the drive. Which is why it might have been ok as a games drive...!!!!

Crystal mark does not see it. AS SSD sees it but when it tries to run a test immediately fails with a "System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException" error.

Not sure what else i can do, tried to update the firmware using the OCZ tool, but it doesn't see the drive either!

Hi mate, it's an MSI Z87-G45

I tried another sata port and cable and it was still the same.
I could only get windows installed onto that drive when i set it to ide in the bios.

That's a pretty good tool!
First time said the drive was locked, so i slept and woke up, then the drive disappeared.
Rebooted 3 more times and the drive never appeared.

My brand new OCZ SSD did this and sent it back to OC and they've replaced it. Think it's failed sadly :(

My brothers one just died too. Sending it back to the seller for a refund as it's now discontinued. Should never have been made!

Yh that's true,I've read about that, they might work fine on any asmedia controlled SATA ports if you have them

Drives like the Vertex 2 that are based on Sandforce SF-1xxx controllers don't work reliably with Haswell motherboards.

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?111964-Vertex-2-Agility-2-and-Haswell

Apparently all SF-1xxx drives are basically completely broken on Haswell systems until/if Sandforce issues updated firmware to fix the problem. So your SSD may actually be just fine, but still completely useless. :(

This here, I tried for ages to make mine work on a haswell board with no joy

The thing is, Im posting this from my rig which has the Haswell/Sandforce combo, so it does work sometimes...

Whats the best alternative SSDs that do work?
