I bought one of the guaranteed to overclock to 3.3GHz chips, the first one I got wouldn't get near that. VID of 1.325, it needed 1.5v to get to 3.0Ghz.
I RMA'd it and got another chip with a VID of 1.275. It ran Prime95 for 8 hours last night 3.2Ghz @ 1.335v (BIOS) so it was well worth spending the extra IMO.
You won't really get a benefit unless you're rendering, playing GTAIV/Crysis or folding really.
