Im taking my test next month 13th june (wish me luck :p right after my A levels) and I am just wondering whether pass plus is worth it, how much is it and how much does it really do to help you quotes, thanks for your help!! :cool:

Any little bit helps i suppose.
Once ive looking into tings im going to do an advanced driving course, it will make my driving better and insurance cheaper :D

The best way to find out is to do some quotes, phone norwich union for example and run a pretend car through with them, both with pass plus and without.

Gives better discount with some insurers than others, norwich union springs to mind as giving one of the better discounts.
When I did it last year I got £126 back from tesco so it payed for itself, bit of a crappy discount imo when i've seen what others got but it varies between insurers.

I saved over 500 quid on my insurance, and pass plus itself was only 120. So Definitely worth it in my opinion. If you can afford to wait that is - It took a month for my certificate to arrive but Norwich Union refunded me the difference as I took out the policy without PP first.

Im doing some quotes now Ill post my results :)

Current without pass pluss;

£2119.95

with pass plus;

£1650.40

:eek: :eek: :eek:

£469.55 certainly worth it!

is their such a thing as an advanced driving course? or is their only passplus? is their a limit to when you can do passplus? as i'm now just 1yr 4 months into passing and i think i remember reading that you have to do it within the first year?

I did a pass+ and it paid for itself after I passed my test. My insurance went down from about 550 pounds to 370. Which was for a 1.1 saxo with third party fire and theft.

Yes there is. Its done by the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) which it is an advanced driving course. Costs £75 to do the whole thing if you are below 25 (£85 if above) which includes voluntary tuition by your observer. Then you have a 1 1/2 hour test with a traffic policeman or an ex traffic policeman. I have just done it, passed the other week, definitly do it. Makes you a much better driver. :) Apparently you can get insurance reductions with doing this course aswell.

Too late for you to get anything off with pass plus though.

Almost exactly the same as mine went down! Mine's a 1.8 97 Golf GL though :)

It's about two hours worth of driving (I'd covered everything on it other than motorways so there was no need to repeat them), good experience and a massive insurance reduction. Very much worth it :).
