Is politics allowed in GD?

omg pmsl..... And not having a general election when he wasnt even voted in? Should be illegal :p

You don't vote for a Prime Minister. You vote for a candidate who is standing in your constituency. That candidate may or may not represent one of the major parties. The party/coalition with enough majority form a government at that point a person (normally the majority party leader) will be declared the Prime Minister attend Buckingham Palace and form the government. The majority party can change it's leader and hence Prime Minister, within reason, whenever it wants. The Conservatives did this to remove Maggie from power. Winston Churchill was never elected in 1940 I don't see many people complaining about that ;)

The fault lies with the current system of represenation not a political party.

Speaking for myself, it was nice to see someone who spoke faultlessly with elegence and vigour. Due to his attack on Brown, I am lead to believe that he shares similar beliefs to me and therefore I would like to see him/people like him in Westminster.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Quite, the guy who does the voice over sounds like a a WoW nerd.

Yeah, the way he "sings" Gordon makes me want to punch him.

It was a nice speech, he's quite a good orator but apart from chastisement and use of hindsight I'm not certain what he would be offering as a solution which makes me a little unsure why people think he would be better than Gordon Brown or is it a case that they think he couldn't be worse?

Gordon Brown has recently come to power yet also caused all the problems? He is hardly soley responsible for this problem.

The problem is that a lot of our money comes from banks which have now failed. The government has bought them to stop our currency falling even further. It was he best decission from a bad situation.

Hopefully they will recover and it wont have been a bad investment.

Labour are far from perfect but I dislike the opposition even more.

On the contrary Gordon Brown was in control of the purse strings for over 10 years before he became prime minister.

Look at some of his achievements during this time.

Inflating enormous debt bubble
Destroying pension schemes
Massive PFI off-balance-sheet debts
Massively increasing tax burden through fiscal drag
Selling Gold reserves just before Gold tripled in value Unbelievable.
Creating the biggest trade defecit in 10 years
Pricing hundreds of thousands of people out of owning their own home

And all this while he kept saying No Boom and Bust, No Boom and Bust. The guy is a complete tool and has managed to set the wheels in motion for this country to become bankrupt again just like Labour did in the 70s.

Starfighter if you think Labour will recover, your going to have a very very long wait.

Spending your way out of a recession, and borrowing to get rid of debt are not in any way idea's that require hindsight to realise they are bad idea's. They sound, appear and in reality are really completely retarded idea's.

I'm embarassed about what he's doing and the fact that we can't seem to remove the little slug before he makes it worse again. So much could have been done over the past decade and Labour have simply cooked the stats and created worthless jobs for so long we simply generate no money as a country.

People go on and on about the banks, the banks aren't the reason the economy is collapsing, the bank is the public face of the problem and the first place the problem became apparant. The banks are the victims as much as the rest of us likely will be in years to come. Yes they could have been run better and been in less trouble when this happened, but so what, it was still always going to happen.

But its all good, because Browns ludicrous idea's are the same kind of ridiculous idea's the US government is coming up with to "fix" their economy too. Not happy with making crapy decision after crapy decision he's actually actively seeking to empart his terrible advice to other countries.

The freaking argument of we vote the party not the man, is complete and utter tosh, if you wish to be letter of the law and a pedantic twit then legally thats the meaning. However I've never once met someone who hasn't voted for the man and the party at the same time.

THe law should really be change to reflect the fact that we should have ever right to vote our leader in, its ridiculous. The US system is far from perfect, but it at least establishes a leading candidate for taking over should the president have to step down for some reason or another. We really should as a country vote for a PM and a deputy PM.

I also think the power to call or not call a general election being held by the man it affects is utterly ridiculous. Place the power to call a general election with, hell, anyone else. Had that been done Brown would have been out quite a while ago now. Our system is just pathetic and full of loop holes and crap.
