Is prime95 realistic?

It's like people who work in data, you will have a section of purests that demand everything is prime95 stable for days. Reality is it's not exactly required and given most of us won't be running anything remotely near that demanding it's just not essential.

Yes strictly speaking if your CPU doesn't pass it then you can't say it's 100% stable as clearly not for that application - however if you can pass every other check and go about your daily business of long gaming and video editing it's clearly fit for your use. As long as mines game/bench/edit/render stable I literally don't even care enough to open prime. Recall 8Pack being of the same opinion but don't remember where...

Prime is the daddy IMO. what will take realbench hours to crash, prime can have you done in 10 mins! BANG!

No messing. If you can run prime 95 for 24hrs, you should have a rock solid platform.

If you cant prime for 24hr runs then your PC is not stable, it's quite simple.

You might think that because it runs cinebench a couple of runs, or 4hrs of realbench your pc is stable. Well it probably is not!! You will find that there is very slight instablity that can rear its head up like once a month or even a year.

Just my 2c.
This, this one million times over.

Many places.

He makes money by selling binned CPUs under his own name which are guaranteed to be stable in non-avx tests only.

Much much harder to get chips that can hit a good overclock on AVX testing. Way easier to use non-avx testing. More chips can be sold.

Not realistic for him to say anything against that in public.
