I want to upgrade to around 500gb of storage on my pc (see sig)
currently I have a 240gb sandisk extreme pro.
would i be better off getting a another 240gb extreme pro and running them in raid 0 ? or just getting a 480gb extreme pro and selling my 240gb one.
or just getting another 240 and not running raid 0.
What are the pros and cons of raid 0?
My rig is in my sig, is my rig able to support raid 0?

my pc is purely a gaming rig.

is also have an m2 slot on my motherboard and spare room for pci-e storage, so those are expansion options also

I had two 250GB 840 evos and stuck them on raid for 500GB raid 0 system.

for gaming and general use I couldn't tell any difference between single drive or raid so I went back to single drives as firmware updates and the magician software that came with them was obsolete as it couldn't find the drives.

I would sell the 240GB SSD and get 1 480GB SSD

Thanks for the info greatly appreciated, i had a suspicion this might be the case

at the moment I have 250GB for OS and another for a games drive so far so good its doing well.

my speeds doubled on my raid setup but games loading and programs loading where no different. if your moving around large files or doing a lot of video coding etc I think it may help but for my use it wasn't.

I was using sata 2 and got 280mb read and write which went up to 520mb read and write still on sata 2.

keeping them as single drives means if I do a OS re install my games are still there and don't need re installing

Sounds like a wise set up. Reckon I'll do this, just myself

Is having multiple disks a pain in the ass or is it fairly simple? I.e do you just get asked where you want your game to do go when you install?
