Mr Cleary, from Wickford, Essex, told a technology website that he and allies had formed a new splinter group in protest at how ‘centralised’ and ‘PR-hungry’ other Anon-Ops leaders had become.

Hacking into the Anonymous system was ‘regrettable but necessary’, he told website Thinq.

‘The only way to make things safe is to make users aware how insecure it is,’ he added.

Organized crime? Really? Does that mean we're all going to be suspects re. The Godfather avatars?

It's the Internet, it's not supposed to be governed. I've yet to see any reason to believe that Ryan put anyone in danger.
what do you think hacking sites, ddosing and everything else they do, of course it is crime.
Organized crime or criminal organizations are transnational, national, or local groupings of highly centralized enterprises run by criminals for the purpose of engaging in illegal activity
Yep they practice organised crime.

Thank you. That should help clear things up.

Bless him, he's done nothing wrong.
[sarcasm]
yup hes totally innocent the poor little boy all he did was run an irc server we know this is true because we read lulzsec twitter and believe everything they spoonfeed us[/sarcasm]

What law does it break? It's just like picketing a shop, which in itself isn't illegal.

i'd imagine the laws he was charged with breaking? FACEPALM.jpg

picketing a shop isnt a malicious act either where as a denial of service attack clearly is.

Perhaps the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act for a start.
Then numerouse other laws once they steal data and such.

How can you even try to say what they do is legal.

they listen to lulzsec twitter and get expert advise from it.

again for those who miss it

What has that got to do with what he's been charged with and the fact it's a crime, you do realise they aren't just hacking each other.

I better break into that shop as it's only padlocked, just to show how week their security is.

I'm really confused by what you have quoted and what you think it means.

yea lol but he clearly is on record from the start of the year telling thr world how HE and his allies are going to start a splinter group.

and he also says ‘The only way to make things safe is to make users aware how insecure it is,’

sounds very much like lulzsec..

if u didnt get my hint of sarcasm i was posting it in response to the people claiming hes some random innocent irc op like lulsec have them believe when hes clearly much more than that.

DDoSing the servers of and interrupting business for big companies like CCP (eve online), illegally obtaining the details including financial details of 1000s of users i.e. the paypal phishing dump, compromised user accounts from various game companies, etc. all comes under organised crime and in the event that data is used for fraudulent purposes or commercial/financial gain it stepping into the realm of serious organised crime.

The events of the first day they took the eve login server offline - not just that attack but some of the other stuff they did - would potentially be considered to be serious organised crime and as such attract sentences in the region of 7-10 years so I hope the perpetrators are fully aware of the consequences of their actions as if not they are in for a bit of a suprise if/when they are caught.

And thats not even touching on the attacts on government agencies, which put a whole different light on it... and anyone who thinks that no one was potentially put in danger by the attacks on some of the FBI sites is seriously stupid (same probably goes for the SOCA site).
