Looking at flats with the Mrs

We both live with parents at the moment and have decent jobs with good incomes. She drives, I don't.

We have looked at a few around her neck of the woods which mean a 10 minute drive to work for her and 25 minutes on public transport for me. Nothing there to either of our fancy.

So I went and looked at one round here tonight and OMG - its stunning.

Its 9 miles from her place of work - about 25-35 min drive and about 20 minutes on the bus to my office - its bang on budget and has everything we both want.

She won't even view it as she doesn't want to live over this way due to the commute - is she being selfish? :( Or am I?!

yes i would say she is. its only a few minutes longer than your commute so you're both in the same boat. Plus you have the hassle of public transport.

I would maybe have another chat with her. Explain that it's near enough the same commute for the both of you, why pass up the opportunity for a decent place with things you both want?
she (from the sounds of it) was happy to look somewhere that was easy for her yet not so easy for you? doesn't really seem fair to me

lol I do a pathetic 11 miles to work in around 25 minutes.

Nothing to complain about at all. It's next to no distance.

Be Alpha and tell her the way it is!

Apply rational thought and logic, state that there's nothing close by to her so you have to go further afield to find something and the only thing she's worried about is the change to her daily routine - which she'll adjust to in time.

Well that's the way I'd look at it, but you are dealing with a woman here... 9 miles is a terribly long way, especially in those heels.

Agreed. Nine miles is F all. There is no guarantee you will be living there forever or her place of work will be forever so why quibble over something small like that?

Get the foot and place it firmly down tbh.
