New client is garbage, having the same issues now on a clean OS and new Steam install that we had during beta. Every few weeks this sort of thing will keep coming back.

Sorry to boast but my steam is working fine and L4D2 downloaded something and is working fine.

edit - working now but getting poor download speeds off it. Perhaps it is because of the MW2 free weekend.

Steam has been playing up for me quite somewhat over the last few days on both my systems. + Its also displaying the dollar instead of the pound! Is this happening to anyone else?

Same here, been having REALLY bad speeds (0-40kb/s) for a few days now.

Also had to delete the two .blob files and verify integrity of some games to get them to work.
