after recieving my new gfx card,it came with a steam card allowing me to dwnload HL 2 LC & HL2 DM for free,when i create an account.
a few people have told me steam is a very demanding programme and makes your system sluggesh and slow,is this true?

The only negative I can think off is that there are not many retail games you can add to steam, unless you buy them off steam at somewhat hefty prices.

Apart from that its awesome
 
Best is one of the better background program's I've used notice no slow down and I can launch a game quite easily or check up what friends are doing with it easily.
 
Do your friends say a hog in terms of bandwidth? It will be if you leave steam downloading a couple of games while you go off to play some TFC :P
 
Steam is great and you have some great games to play there for free.

Like its been said above, it does make you buy more gmes though cos there are some great deals flying about!
 
Love Steam, would definitely not agree that it is a resource hog, it's very well designed and you can turn it off and stop it from starting when Windows does.
