I don't see much said or recommendation for the 6D... Is it not good?

As a 5D classic user it looks like an upgrade without the wallet busting Mk3 prices.

Good or dud?

I have the 6D and its an excellent camera for my uses. Undoubtedly the 5d3 is better, but I'd take a 6d over a 5d2 any day.

The one main complaint seems to be the focusing, and while it may be basic compared to the 7d or 5d3, its also very accurate. If I'm not mistaken, the centre point is actually the most sensitive one Canon have ever put into their cameras, down to -3EV.

For portraiture and documentary styles such as mine, I couldn't complain. The wi-fi is a neat little feature, and the sensor is outstanding.

I was looking at new so didn't consider the mk2. Good to hear some positive feedback.

What I would like Canon to do is a retro style like the Nikon DF, only because I already have a collection of lenses am I loathed to swap camps...... Again!

It's too big (it could be a little smaller, so it's closer to the original)
Layouts are awkward
Gimped AF, it's all clustered to the centre.

It's not even a body that qualifies for Nikon's profession service (like canon's CPS programme). So even the company itself sees it as a fashion styled camera instead a professional line.

If you have to have the look then I guess that's fine but do you like to show people your photos or your camera?

Some fair points I guess, not interested in "showing" the camera, but I do like traditional controls and layout etc. for example by choice I pick up my old Contax N series gear, which I continue use even though it's really old tech these days. It's beautifully built and handles great and a pleasure to use.

A Modern replacement doesn't seemed to exist.

The Nikon DF is a capable camera enough, but it could be so much more, that is where the majority of the criticism lies. We are not even talking about they have to invent new tech, it's just why they can't put in a D4 or D800's AF in it? The camera certainly costs enough. And why won't the body qualify for the Nikon Professional Service?

It's disappointing that it could be so so good, but instead it's just cool and you money could get you a better camera from Nikon.

I was so excited for the idea of a retro F-mount body and then they released that thing. Pointlessly gimped, full of fussy control schemes, and about as expensive as a D800.

Don't have to go for the MkIII... The MkII is a very valid option :)

Tbh not compared to a 6d though.

The 6d is more modern and feature rich then the 5d2.

in my honest opinion, unless budget is a large factor, there is not a decent reason to buy old lens/camera's instead of the latest one.

Why are people developing black and white sensors? We don't need AA filters any more which was about half a justification for the Monochrom, and literally nobody shoots in black and white on a full frame sensor by choice.

I sold my 5dMk2 and went over to a 6D, Its better in every way apart from the weather sealing and no CF slots.

If you want b&w just convert it. Have no idea why you would want to have a b&w sensor.

Some people 'only' shoot B&W. For them it makes sense to have the better image quality. Obviously this is an extremely niche market though.
