Is the British Press partly to blame?

The BBC has done a good job of diversifying their offering to offer something for everyone in the UK, which just happens to rile up a certain demographic that thinks everything should continue to cater solely to them.

Whats the saying, when you try to please everyone you please no one.

Thats kind of the issue. The UK is massively white, straight and the people who use the BBC are not usually young. Catering to every sub-set and minority group isn't really a good reflection of this. I understand why they do it but I can understand why plenty of people don't appreciate it.

OP is a bit 'tail wagging the dog'.

The mess in Britain is real and legit. It's totally ******

We have a leadership race for the new PM where we have actual plausible candidates saying they'll cut all government departments by 20%, or will exit the ECHR!

Now, if you were to have argued that the media shapes an insane headbanger right-wing Tory party, then I would somewhat agree. But the mess resulting from that is real, and not inflated by the press.

Well, the BBC is definitely never going to please the tiny minority that whinge about seeing darkies and gays on the TV, so seems like they're taking the right approach to me.

Darkies is a very mid century term so I have not heard that for a long time.

They have a dozen channels, on-demand, and as many radio stations plus a website. The budget should be divided amongst entertainment that appeals to those paying the bill. I'd say that is pretty much the case -
BBC1 - old fogies
BBC2 - mid-age
BBC3 - youff
BBC4 - near death

Radio 1 - masses
Radio 1xtra - urban youff

etc...
