Is the Canon 30D recommended for a beginner?

i just picked up another 20D with 23000 clicks on it for £225 on a photography forum.. near mint condition, came with spare battery, 4GB card and crumpler bag.

I'm going to keep my out on talk photography as well as eBay and of course MM, hopefully people will forgive my lack trust activity when I intend to purchase something off of them. :cool:
