is the internet killing us?

Play some video games watch some pr0n on websites.

Play some video games watch some pr0n on dodgy pirate VHS.

Don't see how internets has changed anything really for me.

The problem is pr0n is far too easily accessible than it was "back in the day" The kids of today are subjecting themselves to way more hardcore stuff than us oldies ever had on dodgy VHS tapes. Mark my words, the internet will be mankinds downfall....

why must we use the internet to get away from the stress, its like all i either see now days or hear, why must we all be like this, what happened to normal life?

I think the internet for many is becoming a very unhealthy addiction.

If you can find a balance with your work, hobbies, social life than less so.

I am very fortunate that my day job has no internet access.

That was a problem with my previous day job, sitting on a PC all day online, I ran out of things to do. Literally after coming in at 9.30am I would do what I had to do work related for about 60-90 mins and the rest of the day was just sitting there browsing youtube etc and answering any queries as they came in. I became SO bored, even though I had the whole internet in front of me. When I came home I just really did not want to go online as I had been on it all day lol :/

.
LOL i love these internet addiction claims...

It was fine when people spent an evening watching a box with channels...
but spend an evening watching a box with the internet and you suddenly have an addiction......

It's just one form of entertainment replacing another and if they werent on the internet they would likely be sat watching tv.....

The internet has revived us frankly, billions of ideas are passed daily with almost instantaneous appraisal or downfall.

We are finally able to progress without the burden of old communication technologies pulling us down.

The societal effect is up the User involved, I love being able to converse with the entire world, may make it seem smaller, but far more rich an experience.

So in short, no we are literally alive because of this invention (considering its birth in the cold war).

To relieve stress just turn off the internet as there are plenty of other things to do for some entertainment. The trouble is that some people don't appear to be able to do that so it's killing them slowly.....

How is that stupid? If it's good enough for Henry Ford.......

...and Albert Einstein....

[I do not] carry such information in my mind since it is readily available in books. ...The value of a college education is not the learning of many facts but the training of the mind to think.

There is no doubt that the internet is the best invention of recent times but I do feel as a society we are too connected. You have people who are on their phone on the internet when they wake up telling the world what they had for breakfast, then they go to work which involves using the net and then when they get home they will turn on their laptop or tablet and play a few games or go back on Facebook to talk to a friend on Facebook chat that literally lives 2 houses away.
