Is the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard any good?

After carrying out some research for a new keyboard, I'm thinking of taking the plunge with the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard.

I just wanting to find out the opinions of those who own it on Overclockers. I've a few specific questions in mind, but any advice is welcome. They are:

1) Is there any irritating keyblocking when gaming?

2) Is the palm-rest large enough for comfortable typing, or a tad useless?

3) Do you find the row of raised keys at the bottom of the keyboard annoying for gaming/typing?

4) I've been told that it works in BIOS, but just wanted to double-check?

Thanks for any advice.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I was also thinking about the Razer Arctosa, but am finding it difficult to find any good reviews. So if you own that keyboard, and have an opinion on it, then that would be really helpful too.

i think the keyboard is fine i used it on my lap and the rest pad still comfortable ive used it to play CS and didnt have any issues so its fine for me, jus gota make sure u like the laptop likes keys ie if u have long nails hard to type as the keys dont go down very much but its so useful as i cba to switch off the light when im falling aslp so i dnt switch it on at all and the different lighting settings do not give off interference with my TFT monitor:D

There is more than Logitech keyboard with light-up keys :p

I have a G15, no problems at all.

1) Keyblocking? As in if more than 3 keys are pressed at once at the same time and it doesn't work? Well so far I have not had any issues for examples in FPS or Driving games i.e. WASD or Arrow keys.

2) I would say it is not large enough, even with my small hands it only slightly covers my wrists, but I've already adapted to this so it is not a huge concern for me anymore. But few more inches wider would have been great though, and maybe slightly raised and with added texture feeling too.

3) I personally have no problem with the bottom raised key row i.e. space bar, CTRL, ALT etc. Only niggle is that the "Right-click Menu" key is replaced with a shift function FN key to allow for the uses of the F keys/programmable Media buttons.

4) It will work if your BIOS supports USB keyboards in it, in which case, it does for me.

I made a review for this on the product page and as you can tell, I really like it.

As the Arctosa, it is basically just the Lycosa but without all the fancy LED backlighting etc, but I would honestly say that it is a much more comfortable keyboard for gaming compared to the Logitech. Only reason I chose the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard was because of the price and better backlighting features compared to the Lycosa, and in the end, I am still very happy with the purchase.

Wow, thanks for all the info. It's a shame that the palm rest is not very big, as I've got big hands. Otherwise, judging from the comments, it seems to be perfect for me.

In terms of the Lycosa and Arctosa, does that gap at the bottom of the plam rest interfere with typing, as it seems to be exactly where you might rest your plams?

I think it's between these two.

well ive just bought the logitech illuminated and imo the palm rest is good enough because the keyboard is flat anyway - where the rest does drop off it's so gradual is fine.

I got the keyboard and it is better in the flesh - amazing keyboard imo.

I got one last week and it is fantastic. I put a little review on OcUK as well, my first one :)

When it gets late in the evening the light up keys look bloody fantastic. Even during the day they stand out and look brilliant. As I have said in my review the backspace and enter keys are quite small so might take a little getting used to.

All in all those it is love to type on and to game with. Lovely stuff!!

"For those that don't like short travel keys (laptop keyboards basically) then this certainly isn't for you."

Like the look of this keyboard, but does anyone know what the spacing is like compared to the Apple slim keyboard?
