Is the N97 ever actually going to be released?

Sounds good, with any luck they'll give the cam a decent flash like they did with the N82.

Nope it's an LED flash. All the specs have been available online for a while now, there is no Nokia touchscreen with xenon flash coming out as yet. More's the pity

I know terrible isnt it. I hope they are using the updated camera module like in the N86, which might go some way to negating the use of LEDs but I suspect not.

You guys miss the point. I don't particularly care that its always been scheduled to be released 'absolutely years in the future'. It was announced in December yet it's April and it isnt here. Why does it take so long? It's a technology product, we shouldnt have to wait half a year before we can actually buy the thing.

It happens all the time... sometimes they announce early to drum up hype and keep interest going, and divert attention from other rival products. And then you have constant refining and tweaking before release. It's not a rare thing.

if you check a website that is the opposite of stop, you will find that they have the N97 as being released on the 23rd of june for £500 sim free

Phones take a long time to develop. A complex smartphone can take well over a year from concept to release.

So why announce it so early? Why not announce it a few weeks before it's ready? Usually the reason is so that they can get feedback on the device from beta testers and reviewers. By allowing people to do proper, real world testing, there's a greater chance to catch all of the bugs and make sure that the phone suits everyones' needs.

Imagine how buggy it might be if they didn't test it before release.

Mine isnt too bad actually, takes about 8 seconds to load a text message but that might have something to do with the fact I have 2497 messages in my inbox :o
